Alabama: Is it illegal to take alive sand dollars?
I hope the answer is yes to them being illegal. My dad is arguing saying there's no way it's illegal when in fact it is in many places, but I can't find anything on it. We are in orange beach at the moment. Of course I won't let him take any, but if you live here and have the answer I'd be grateful, especially if you can link a source.

It is illegal to take or keep a live sand dollar and it carries a hefty fine. If it has hair or is in the water, it is alive and should be placed back into the water, with the hair side down against the sand. Sand Dollars eat tiny particles of food that float in the water. Dead Sand Dollar shells are called a "test".Jul 17, 2017

Highly doubt it.
