TO me classic means used long ago and still in use today. Red is the most classic lip color and was use as far back as ancient Egypt. Rose is another old classic and looks good on almost all skin tones. shades of wine such as rose, burgundy and brandy Have been around since the late 1800's. 20th century classics include various pinks, shades of red from dark to bright and the most popular of all from the mid century: a pinky/orange orangy/pink that went by names such as coral and Shrimp. These shades were universally flattering, looked pretty rather than painted and looked good with almost every color of clothing. In the 70's earthy shades entered the market and were everyone's favorite for a while. Today these old traditional colors are all considered classics and have all stood the test of time. Ten years from now trendy shades of mauve, nude, yellow and palest pink will look silly and dated while the red, wine, coral, rose, terra cotta and pink lip colors will still look as good as ever.
