I have heard that passing kidney stones can be as painful as having children, so I would imagine both women and men have similar pain tolerances.

Medical research into pain tolerance have found that, generally, men have a higher pain tolerance compared to women.

But of course an individual subject may have a variety of pain tolerance that falls outside this experimental norm.

Women, at one point in time, tended to go to Justin Bieber concerts, ... for example.

My wife is a real whimp when it comes to pain, and passes out at the sight of blood.

Her reaction to the sight of blood is a visual/emotional thing. Not actually pain.
