I might be ignorant on the issue because I chose a career path that does not require a degree, but Why should I be penalized through higher?
Taxes because people took on student loans that they are either not willing or not able to payback?

You shouldn't
No way should college loans be forgiven and if they are that person should be banned from any and all future loans because they have proven themselves untrustworthy. It should forever be part of their credit score

Because the socialist Democrats are buying votes. {Do not worry. They will fail, so your taxes will not go up for that reason.}

For the same reason I should be penalized for PAYING OFF my education.
Hint: We shouldn't.

The student loan crises has the potential to ruin the US economy which would affect you as well. Something needs to be done. I think, going forward student loan amounts should depend on the desired major's earning potential and demand. The students who already have student loan debts should be given the choice of paying the entire loan back in full or paying 15% of their taxable earnings for 15 consecutive years which could be payable when they file their tax return.

College is an investment of time and money. If that investment does not enable you to make more money when you graduate it is a bad investment.
If you graduate with a degree in Nursing and you make twenty thousand more per year the degree was a good investment and you will make enough money to pay off your student loan.
If you have a degree in gender studies it won’t help you earn a living so it is a bad investment.
It is not the role of society to help you make bad investments.
In fact colleges and Universities are bloated inefficient organizations that provide very poor value to millions of students.
They need to compete for your money by offering affordable programs that help you make more money.
Free college is typical of socialism. Rather than let the market create efficiency it would allow the socialist state to prop up these wasteful institutions.
You don’t need a campus with fancy buildings, a sports stadium, or even a classroom to learn.
The internet has rendered college largely obsolete

Taxes are a unifying thing, something that no one is quite comfortable with. All American citizens must pay taxes, but what the money will be used for is a question of politics. You can campaign against forgiving college loan debt, but you can't avoid taxes.

First of all, no one is talking about raising your taxes. Bernie wants to tax the financial industry- the people who are making millions taking risks with your money. Second, getting more people educated is seen as an investment in the future in most countries. It pays off in increased GDP, which helps everyone. It's not going to help you if China gets ahead of us in industrial and scientific research.
In my state, student scholarships are funded through a lottery- something people will happily throw their money away on. If more states were doing this, we wouldn't have to be talking about student loan dismissal or using any tax money. Maybe you should be talking to your state legislators.
They may not be SAYING they are talking about raising EVERYONE'S taxes, but they ARE advocating exactly that.

You're exactly right. If a person is smart enough to go to college, they should be smart enough to know that they have to repay loans to attend. All these people crying because they have $150k in student loans for a degree in a field that pays $45k a year deserve no sympathy.

Any Democrat will tell you that the beauty of America is being rewarded for bad choices and bad behavior. If you don’t qualify, that is your own fault for behaving yourself and making good choices.
BS
It will not ruin the economy
You borrow money you pay it back, period, doesn't matter if you borrowed it for a car, a house or a degree its your responsibility
