In the 1970's science was sure man was causing the next ice age. What lessons can be learned from this hysteria?
This question seems to have triggered someone, probably Tribeca. The question keeps getting moved by someone who cannot handle it.
Is this what happens when liberals are presented with facts that do not fit into their preconceived notion of "truth". They attack and push away what does not go along with their current understanding instead of adapting and learning?

When governments throw hundreds of billions of dollars at researchers looking for a specific outcome..... they get what they pay for..... does that answer your question?

They won't learn anything. Remember that business of the world's oil all running out by the year 2000?

The big lesson is that the press often misinterprets science and wingnuts often believes word for word whatever foxnews says. They build their campaigns around such lies.
It was journalists who kept this story alive - not scientists - and it's something the lying, republican yellow press still believes.

A few scientists and pseudo scientists made this claim which another 40 years of scientific research has totally discredited.

Science has advanced since the 1970s.

Your question is a complete joke. You have a link that that gives references to talk of a possible ice age in the popular media, but virtually nothing in the scientific literature.
Here's a news flash for you: professional scientists don't publish their results in the "Boca Raton News" or the "Ellensburg Daily Record".
I can easily produce a meteorology text from about that same time that talks about warming of the planet for anthropogenic CO2 emissions--that's what MOST scientists were worried about (if they were worried at all). You focus on some sensationalistic news reports the majority of which are probably based on the same 2 or 3 scientists.
Like most people that reject science, you get your "science" information from anywhere but legitimate sources--you don't take science classes, read science textbooks or read journals. THAT is the lesson to be learned: DON'T GET YOUR SCIENCE FROM THE POPULAR MEDIA!!!!!

Scientists will say and do anything to get government grants.

Why do you keep repeating that debunked lie? The climate scientists in the 1970s were predicting climate warming.
Scientists today are seeing global warming and have issued definitive statements on the climate change that is adversely affecting the planet. The evidence is strong and irrefutable. You should pay attention.

In 1960's science we were sure that human overpopulation is going to destroy the world, and guess what happened.

Funny, the same thing is true about the Federal governments' food pyramid from the late fifties. I think it is obvious that scientists being human are nowhere close to infallible!

That scientist will lie to keep the cash flowing
funny how globull warming was exposed in climate gate and the named was changed to climate change,...LOLOLOLOLOLOL
