I have always had a hard time looking at one individual young bird and determinig sex. Are there other birds that are the same age and came from the same nest/batch? The easiest way for me is to compare them to siblings. Cockerels usually develop brighter colors before pullets, and cockerels also usually develop a brighter, more distinctive comb earlier than the pullets. Cockerels also have pointy neck feathers, while pullets usually have rounded neck feathers. Same goes for saddle feathers. The saddle feathers on a cockerel are pretty distinctive.

Sadly when we picked them we got all different ones so we’d have a variety of chicks.
