Has H.P Lovecraft s books ever been rewritten in standard English?

As you know, his books are infamous for being very hard to read. If they have ever been dumbed down for the average person such as my self I d like to buy them.

His books are written in standard English. He just had a penchant for obscure vocabulary items and outdated spellings. Get yourself a decent thesaurus and you'll be able to tackle anything he ever produced.

There have been at least 5 writers who wrote within the Cthulhu mythos. Unfortunately none of the older ones published in the 1920's or thereabouts have been 'updated' for today's readers.

But his language is one of the chief attractions.

He had a prediliction for using slightly unusual words, like 'rugous', but he used them often and you only have to look them up once. His style is what makes his work interesting.

My personal preference for consuming the works of Lovecraft is through the HP Podcraft Literary Podcast in which there are readings and discussion of the works, life, and times of Lovecraft

They're not very hard to read. I started reading his short stories when I was 10 years old. Some of them were republished in magazines aimed at elementary school kids. You've been misinformed. Just sit down and read one. I started with "The Outsider".

His wordy, convoluted language is one of the main things i like about him.

the bbc did a radio production of "the shadow over innsmouth" once, i think it's really good, and they abridged it for radio of course

but even in that condensed form he's wordy as hell
