There are people who can construe anything as racist, sexist or just insensitive.

Maybe people want the statue to be "transgender".

Well it is green and possibly objectifies women like that green woman doing the sexy dance in the skimpy outfit in an early episode of Star Trek. Other than that, I don't see it as sexist. But having been brainwashed by #Igotfeltuptoo movement, who is to say what is sexist and what is ok?

She is green because her outer surface is made of copper. Copper turns green when it tarnishes, as one would expect it to do in all that salty sea air. She wasn't green when she was first built.

It's not deserved at the present moment, because the principles underlying it are being violated in the extreme. France should take it back.

So? Nothing is binding the US government to anything written on the statue of liberty?

I think in some roundabout way, they try to make the argument that it supports the idea that women's roles are in hospitality jobs, since the statue is welcoming immigrants or whatever.
