Do banks lure ordinary customers into "investing"?

Do they prey on people with little knowledge of financial terms to harm them financially? What you think?

I think they push investment products on people who do not have the surplus "gambling" income to devote to them and who would be far better served financially by safer bank products (and a more frugal lifestyle to go with it). But what do I know. This is just anecdotal on my part.
