DescriptionTahini or tahina is a condiment made from toasted ground hulled sesame. It is served by itself or as a major ingredient in hummus, baba ghanoush, and halva. Tahini is used in the cuisines of the Eastern Mediterranean, the South Caucasus, and the Middle East, as well as parts of North Africa.

    It’s ground up sesame seeds.

Think peanut butter, but with sesame seeds.

It’d DELICIOUS and used in some ethnic foods as well as health food and is common in vegetarian diets.

I make a mean tahini dressing/dipping sauce and LOVE it on whole grain toast instead of butter.

    It's sesame seed paste.

    Buy sesame seeds.

    Toast them.

Put them in a food processor.

Add a few drops of oil and grind into a creamy paste.

Or you can buy it in a jar in the grocery store. It's usually with the peanut butter.

Sesame seed paste, slightly bitter, used in Middle Eastern cuisine. It's in humus.

To keep it, pour olive oil over it in the jar and put it in the refrigerator. Keeps indefinitely.
