Why don't full duplex walkie talkies exist?
Walkie talkies have always been half duplex where as you are talking and not hearing the other side or they are talking and you have to keep your hand off the talk button.
Cordless phones are two way walkie talkies that are full duplex.
Isn't it sad that walkie talkies cannot be full duplex?

It is possible, but you need to use two different frequencies and have good enough filtering on the transmit and receive circuits that the transmitter does not cause interference with the receiver in the same unit. The cost and complexity outweigh the occasional advantage, for most people.
Early analog cellphones did exactly that - transmit and receive simultaneously.
Likewise old analog cordless phones, splitting between somewhere around 1MHz and 50 - 70MHz.
Digital cordless phones and cellular phones do not transmit and receive simultaneously, they alternate between each and send / receive compressed bursts of digital audio.

The way walkie talkies work is they transmit a radio signal over a single frequency (usually a public one) and only one person can transmit on that frequency at a time otherwise they interfere with the other. To have a duplex Walkie Talkie you would have to use two frequencies at a time which would be against FCC rules, since they do not want people to over use the already limited public frequencies available. Regardless between cell phones and various apps walkie takies are more of a relic of the past.
