with a 2.5 GPA, does he qualify for any type of grants or scholarships?

    No one just "gets" scholarships - every student has to apply for them in one way or another. A GPA of 2.5 is basically a C+ and there are plenty of solid A & B students applying for scholarships, too. That being said, only SOME scholarships are academic scholarships. Have him do a scholarship search, read the financial aid area of your school's web site, and see what's out there that he might qualify.

    If he is accepted at a college, financial aid is based on need, not his grades.
