Muslims, if you are married how did you find your husband/wife?

Where did you meet and how long did you go out before getting married?

My dad was travelling and as he entered a little town, he saw my mum walking and asked her for directions. He liked her and then asked for her name but she blanked him and walked away because she was too conservative. Later that day he met her dad and proposed. She accepted and they got married a year later. There was no dating or period of getting to know each other. Just that first brief encounter but to this day they are like a match made in heaven.

I genuinely believe that marriage in the west is much more difficult to sustain because it is based on love alone which is not lasting. It is so easy to interact with a new person of the opposite sex and fall in love with them. This is especially true for attractive people because their options are wide open and their love is constantly challenged.
