I'm taking two medicines that don't cure or fix anything.
What the first one does, is that it slows down disease progression, but it doesn't cure my disease or fix the damage already done. Disease progression for me means brain damage. Less brain damage is good. Very good.
The second one prevents excruciating, agonizing pain, in fact one of the worst pains known to mankind, but no, it doesn't do anything for the underlying cause of the pain, just prevents me from feeling it, and hey! I'll take that too, thank you very much!
If you're type 1 diabetic and you don't take your insulin, then you will go downhill, maybe not right away, but eventually at one point as the your high blood sugar starts to damage your organs. High blood pressure can also be fatal if not treated, I lost my maternal grandmother to undetected high blood pressure, as did a friend of mine.
Taking any kind of medicine is all about weighing up the pros and the cons, and more often than not the pros by far outweigh the cons.
