One thing that hasn't been suggested is prune juice, apricot juice also works well and so does aloe juice but that is a bit of an acquired taste. Over ice with some Sprite to sparkle it up a little helps. At the extreme, ask your pharmacist for magnesium citrate. Drink that cold, over ice (it sometimes has a nice citrus flavoring) near the bathroom, as it could work quickly.

Get some OTC Colase at the pharmacy take it with a full glass of warm water. In about 30 minutes, it should cause a reaction. This is what hospitals give to post-surgical patients who have been on opiods for pain.

The doctor will usually prescribe or recommend appropriate laxatives/stool softeners if you are on medication that tends to cause constipation. (When I had surgery significant enough to need opiates for more than a couple of days post-op, the doctor also prescribed a stool softener for me to take. )
Exercise is good too, but realistically, if you are in enough pain to need regular opiates, or are getting (for example) cancer chemotherapy that causes constipation, that may be hard to do.

Drinking plenty of water and possibly taking a daily fiber supplement like Metamucil a couple of times a day.
Forget the Ayurvedic preparations and add fibre to the normal diet along with exercise and adequate hydration but first stop whatever is causing the constipation if this is possible.
