A good way to find out if anybody uses the name is go go to the white pages directory. See if anybody has that name.

There is no official records of anyone using the surname Skywalker prior to the release of the Star Wars films starting in 1977. Since then there have been people who have had their name legally changed to Skywalker.

Skywalker means one who walks on the sky or in the sky. Alternatively, it can either be a family whose past profession was iron working or a Native American of the Mohawk group who worked on the steel buildings in New York. Usually, however, the name is just a name people change their last name to when they are a fan of Star Wars.
