If I get a camera recording of someone stealing my "impeach Trump" sign off my property, a license and everything, can I have them penned up?

Stealing political signs is a misdemeanor in my state, punishable by $1000 fine and up to a year in prison

You can file a criminal complaint if anything is stolen form your property.

The video would be evidence that can be used both to identify and convict the thief.

You don't have any say in the sentence imposed.

So, you suffered what, $5 in damages? Nope. In my city, the police won't come to you for property damage or theft under a $1000. You'd have to go in or file your report online never to be seen again.

no, but you can get them for theft. and if you can prove the value of it, you can get the money back, if not the sign.

You could file theft charges on them. They aren't going to jail for just that though.

Petit larceny is like shoplifting a pack of gum. Think about it.
