If you transfer money into a bank account as a form of someone’s salary, are you an employer?

Are Youtubers that have video editors and pay them a percentage of what they earn every month considered an employer or is the video editor self employed?

if you pay somebody to do work for you, you are hiring them.

if you have their personal info, and a deal that they work for you, either by contract, or a regular shift, you have hired them.

If its just a payment now and then it could be simply a contractor for a service. Like if you paid a company to clean your house every 2 weeks, or something similar.

youtubers are self-employed. Payments to youtubers over a certain amount of money get a 1099G issued to the youtuber and IRS. An employer has more control of an employee.
