My heart rate takes 3 hours to go back under 100 after exercise.....is this a concern?

Yes. Your heart rate should return to baseline within five minutes of peak exercise. If it does not, it needs to be evaluated by a cardiologist.Source(s): Respiratory therapist (B.S., RRT, RPFT) Working on my master's in nursing

if you are new to it like any muscle its hard at first till it gets fit and it breezes through it can slow quicker it pumps a lot stronger then if you are a regular which I doubt it is a concern

That is an excessively long time, I reckon mine usually comes down to its normal 65 bpm or so in under 15 minutes even if I've exercised long and hard.
