why do people keep saying we should talk about issues and discuss other peoples points of views.?
isnt that like saying every point of view is valid and worth discussing. should we sit down and have conversation with hitler about how killing jews is a good idea. or have a conversation with rapists about how rape somehow good. what about people who believe we should all eat battery acid for breakfast. surely people dont really believe in understand other peoples points of view.
but for the most part people dont disagree on the facts. they just disagree on who should profit. for example the rich should get tax cuts or the poor should get more benefits. theres no disagreement on what is. the only disagreement is what should be. the truth isnt relevent.
were not divided on issues. we have issues because we are divided.

You can learn of other people and get their views on thing. Also if a person upsets you you can discuss or debate with them. They may not be aware that they have upset you so it is better to get it out in the open.
As you go through life you can learn something everyday.

There are 2 competing ways of looking at life. One is emotional (liberals), the other is rational (conservatives). For discussion of issues that affect society, these two thought processes result in different solutions. Almost everyone believes that their particular viewpoint is the correct one and the only way to sift through the reasons for a particular opinion is to discuss it. Opinions take on more value when they are shared by others. When a particular opinion is held by an all powerful politician, you can have very bad things happen as with Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Castro, etc.
