It isn't necessary to mention the amount. You're sending a thank-you note, not a receipt. Just acknowledge the thoughtfulness and/or generosity of the giver.

Are you sending out thank you cards for a funeral? You can mention the monetary gift but not the actual dollar amount.
A public announcement isn't necessary for anyone, a card of thanks is.

Presuming you mean acknowledging privately to the family, yes unless the donor requested that their donation be anonymous.
