Let me preface my remarks that saying that the Internet has spawned a lowbrow atheist movement that would have disgusted Bertrand Russell or other literate proponents of atheism. It is, I believe, the main reason why the New Atheism has run out of gas. Thinking men and women have become reluctant to be associated with atheism as a cause.
Our knowledge of the historical Jesus is hazy. There is a theory about him that explains a number of things, that he and John the Baptist died in a failed effort to prevent the war with the Romans their people lost, which got them in trouble with the priests of the Temple, who were making money off the sacrifice of animals while Jesus and John were preaching repentance for the remittance of sins as a way to rid their country of the Romans.
"It is written, my house will be called a house of PRAYER [not sacrifice] but you have made it a den of thieves."
Needless to say, Jesus must have been aware that he risked being stoned to death or assassinated, let alone crucified by the Romans, because he was taking part in this bold rebellion.
I'd like you think about this, and the fact that an atheist and eminent scholar, Thomas Jefferson, regarded Jesus as one of the great ethical teachers of the ancient world.
Then think about how the memory of this hero towers above somebody like you, maggot.
