In Texas, you put a temporary license plate in the place where it belongs - in the license plate holder on your car.

A temporary, paper license plate is placed on a car by an auto dealership at the time you take possession of the car. You can't go down and "get" one yourself. The State of Texas doesn't issue "temporary" plates. A temporary plate that's placed on a vehicle by a dealership will be dated, and it's valid only for 30 to 60 days.

I put it where it belongs. On the license plate holder. Where do you put it?

Place it where you would place an ordinary license plate. Texas does not require a temporary plate to be displayed in the front of the vehicle; only the back. You can mount it in the existing license plate bracket, or you can tape it so that it is clearly visible through the rear windshield.

Display it in the rear window facing outward.
