Can people with Asperger's syndrome struggle to understand certain things to the level of a neurotypical person and if so what?

Update 2:

David, The purpose of small talk is to make a connection. But people with Asperger's might not see the point because they find it hard to connect with people.

Anything is possible. People with autism (asperger syndrome) are not made using cookie cutters. There are huge differences between individuals.
