when hear people say that "you can cut the rhizomes of Bermuda grass with a power rake & it helps it multiply, what are they talking about?

what is a "Rhizome" and how vertical cutting or dethaching, power raking a lawn helps the Bermuda spread and multiply?

It's a thick horizontal underground stem which develops new roots and shoots. That's how plants with rhizomes spread and multiply efficiently, not needing to rely on seeds being spread, surviving and germinating. If you cut or break up rhizomes when using your tool the individual resulting spread-out sections often continue in business as they did when whole, thus continuing to multiply the plant.

If you take a verticutter and you use it on Bermuda grass it will help it to spread and you can take the fact that you get from The cutting and spread it on bare areas and roll it in and it will take root.
