An electric current is passed through 60.0 mL of water (H20). This converts the water into 53.33 g oxygen gas and 6.67g hydrogen gas. Assuming the density of the water is 11.00 g/mL, calculate the percent composition of each element in water.

The density of water is not needed to solve this problem.

53.33 g + 6.67 g = 60.00 g

Oxygen ---> (53.33 / 60.00) * 100 = 88.88%

The hydrogen can be solved by subtraction:

100 - 88.88 = 11.12

If your teacher insists, then the other calc would be this:

(6.67 / 60.00) * 100 =
