Ok so i am very interested in becoming a national guard. I’d love to help rescue in tragic events, but I don’t really want to go to combat?

Is there anyway of just being a tragic event helper or must you go to war?

You can join a different organization that also helps rescue in tragic events, instead of the national guard.

You do not become a national guard. You can join the national guard and become a national guardsman. No one in the military is exempt from war. All must obey all lawful orders, including orders to get on the plane heading or a comat zone, and to advance upon that hill.

Join the Red Cross, they do not go into combat. Join the US Public Health Service. They provide care for the Native Americans and Coast Guard. But if you are in in branch of the military you have a good chance of having to go to war.

Do not want combat then you do not join the military at all, there is ALWAYS a chance you can. Then again you may only do weekend drills and annual training during your time in.

If you want to do rescue then look at the local search and rescue teams instead of the military. Red Cross, Peace Corps, or other options instead.

You must do what you are ordered to do. Perhaps you should get trained to be another type of first responder, like a fireman.

First, the National Guard is the name of the organization, not the people in it. They are called Guardsmen.

And, no, there isn't an MOS for 'tragic event helper.' If you want to do that and not have to do the whole military thing, look into the Red Cross or Salvation Army.

Nobody wants to go to combat, of course. Even the Marines prefer peace.

But if you join the National Guard, there is always a chance of being sent into combat.

Trump has done his best to keep troops out of wars, but nobody can guarantee that there will be no war in the next 10 years or so.
