Is going to church a waste of time?

It depends on why you are going and what you expect to get out of going to church.

In many places church attendance is part of the social life of the community. If you are only looking for a social experience but are not a believer, your time is not wasted if that is a major part of the social fabric of that community.

Others might attend church for political reasons, establishing their bonafides as a righteous individual before running for or while holding public office. A bit deceptive if you are not a true believer, but despite the Constitution's ban on religious tests for holding public office, in reality there are places where not attending church would be a political career killer.

If you are attending church to worship God, yes it is a waste of time. You might as well visit a temple of Zeus or Thor since they too don't exist either.

No matter how anyone might try to deny this, it is a waste of time listening to the same assertions and never any evidence.

Yes. I thought it was a waste of time my whole life and I stopped going by the time I became a teenager.

It depends on the individual, the church and what you’re looking to get out of the practice.

Ask yourself: Is the church teachings and practices 100% bible based?

    • All churches claim they're 100% Biblical. This simply cannot be the case.

That depends on the church. Going to mine isn't.

Yep. Plenty of other things to do, like, having a life.
