Gluten intolerant test?

Can you do a gluten test on your own by eliminating gluten from your diet for a period of time or do you have to get a test done

There is no test for intolerance. The only way to detect intolerance is to eliminate the food from your diet for at least a few weeks and see what happens. If you feel better, you can then eat the suspected food again, and see if you feel worse.

There is a blood test for celiac disease (which is not the same as intolerance). The test might be worth getting if you see a difference with gluten or if you have vague unexplained symptoms. The test does not work well if you eliminate gluten before getting the blood test.
