I’ve had a sore throat for over a week now. Super painful swallowing, inflamed tonsils, white spots that come and go. Please help.?

From your description (white patches and painful swallowing), it sounds as if you have strep throat. It will require your going to a dr. Penicillin is usually recommended for that.

why not see a doctor

aww... that stinks. Strep throat? Its really impossible to say over the internet. If its been super sore for a week and it hasn't gotten better, then its time for the doctor. If it is strep throat, it will go normally away on its own but sometimes you do need antibiotics to help you out....this might be the case if you havent seen any improvement the past week. Also, gargle salt water (just add salt into warm water). This will help your sores. Acetaminophen instead of ibuprofen with sore throats helps me.

you need to be tested for strep throat and then put on a round of antibiotics.

You should be investigated for strep throat infection.
