A hour one-way commute, assume about 50 miles, 100 miles a day. True cost of driving a car is over $0.50/mile. You will be paying over $50 a day to drive, not counting your time.
$22 a hour is gross. Detract Federal and State taxes, any company takes, and you will be lucky to pull $18/hour. For an standard 8-hour workday that is $144 take-home. Deduct that $50 commute and you are talking $94 net, under $12/hour take home.
10 years ago I was paid $35 to $40 a hour, my one-way commute was under 3.5 miles, was under 3.5 miles for for over 30 years. Ain't way I would do a long commute, and definitely $22/hour.
You will have to do your own math.
