Can I drop a letter on USPS blue box on Sunday?

I know there is no collection on Sunday and it will be collected on Monday, but does the blue box always have the plastic inside that mailman collects?

Yes. However there was one time my management company either didn't get my rent check, or got it late, when I did it like that. So now I always walk in there, or give it to a mail carrier.

Yes you can drop it into the box, it will just sit there until it's collected.

Yes. However, there is a slight risk that someone might break into the box and steal your letter.

Yes. When a tray is taken out of the box, a new tray is put in the box.
