Why Do People Isolate Themselves From others ?

    For self defense because they had a bad encounter with someone and don’t want to be hurt again.

    it could be for a variety of reasons, mental illness, they are a hermit, they are misanthropes who don't like people etc.

    I would say either fear or because a cost-benefit analysis has, in their mind, showing that interacting with others is more annoying/painful/difficult or otherwise "costly" than not doing it.

    Because they're shy, Because they don't have good people skills, Because they have social anxiety, Because they feel they have nothing in common, because they fear rejection
