I feel genuinely sorry for anyone who can't just enjoy a few drinks without getting out of control. There's lots of different kinds of alcoholics, the binge drinker who overdoes it on a semi-regular basis, the secret drinker who hides bottles everywhere, the social drinker who needs a few to take the edge off and be more fun. Some can hold their liquor and you'd never know they were drunk, some get bombed on two beers.
Somewhere along the way they let the alcohol take over. Not being preachy, I've had more than my fair share, starting early and drinking regularly, mainly weekends, at 16. It's amazing I've lived this long (53) and it never got me in bad trouble like driving drunk, negative health issues or dependency. While I haven't 'quit' drinking, I rarely do anymore and sometimes I really miss a good binge.
