Why do we call 2 digit buses the number but 3 digit ones as just the digits? e. g. 14 bus is 'the fourteen' but 217 is 'the two one seven'?

    Saying two hundred and seventeen is time consuming and tiring. I think that's why its spoken as 2-1-7.

    Not where I'm from - it's the two seventeen here, so you cannot Just assume that everyone is from where you are.
