Why do conservatives say wages are going up when the average American hasn't seen a real wage increase in almost 50 years?

Wages are up, and have been going up the last 60 years.

Back then families could barely afford 1 car, now there are more cars then people! Obesity is the main issue with the poor! Everyone has a damn tv, a damn video game. In the past only the rich had AC and fridges!

Point is, you are looking at it too basic if you think adjustment to inflation is the way to determine wealth comparisons throughout time.

Well, wages ARE going up, but they're not keeping pace with the rising cost of living. It sounds better if you state the facts without context, though.

The only wage which is not going up is the minimum wage. But people in many states don't care because of it better for them to have jobs. And most of them have 2 jobs.

The average wage is going up. If the CEO's compensation goes up by $3 million, that means that the average goes up for the whole company . Which is why a median wage , relative to inflation would be a more meaningful number
