    Chances are someone used 80. cal/g rather than 79.9 cal/g. Therefore, the answer would only be to two significant digits, which is why 3.6x10^3 cal is your choice.

      I realize that, but the problem listed "3.6 x 103" Not 3.6 x 10^3

      there is a huge difference between 10^3 = 1000 and 103=103

      I realize he left out a "^", but .. not my job to correct typing mistakes, specially when it's not obvious.
