Can I mix two different types of ram. 2x8gb 3200mhz corsair and 1x16gb 3200mhz patriot viper? 3 sticks total?

    I've always heard it's not a good idea, but where I work now we do it all the time and we've never had a problem! You can even mix sticks of different speeds as long as you run them at the lower speed.

    I don't think you can do dual-channel with 2 8s and 1 16.

    Yes, you can, my friend, but you WILL lose dual-channel functionality, which requires you to fit RAM modules in pairs.

    As long as the modules are the same, go for it, but it is strongly recommended not to mix rams from different brands.
