One problem with voluntary assisted suicide is that it can become involuntary assisted suicide. It's not so hard to imagine a sick, vulnerable person being pressured into ending it early, either by relatives who are tired of being caregivers or by insurance companies.
It's like abortion. That was supposed to be a woman's choice, but there are women who find themselves being pressured into abortions they don't want because their parents don't want the inconvenience or their boyfriends don't want to pay child support.

I think it is a personal choice made to avoid intense suffering, and should not be controlled and forbidden by govt officials.

I think they should be legal when a person is terminally ill and in pain.
