Can a hot climate ruin a car's paint job?

Yes here in Australia the hot summers ruin paint of cars not put in the shade. Red cars suffer the worst and the red fades very quickly. There is a light purple or lavender paint also used here that after 3 or 4 years of sitting outside in the sun will turn a sickly colour that makes me feel like spewing. The only colour the sun does not damage here is white as it reflects the suns ultra violet rays and that is why people from overseas ask why do so many Australians drive white cars. The paint damage done by the sun generally affects the surfaces that face upward so engine hoods, roofs, and rear baggage area hood tend to look very faded. The clear coat of paint on the surface of the car tends to crack and crumble and the paint underneath fades. The problem can't be polished out as the damaged paintwork fades right through the depth of the paint and the affected areas need repainting at a large cost..

Yes but probably slower than rust caused by salting roads in colder climates. If you watch car restoration programmes, they favour old cars from places like California and Arizona because they don't have any rust. The interiors are normally pretty bad especially the dash but these are easier to replace than the chassis.

Yes... The blazing sun may actually be bad for your car's exterior and interior. Excessive exposure to sunlight could & most likely will damage your car

If you park your car under direct sunlight for long periods, like 4 5 hours everyday like 8 or 10 years it will ruin your paint! But it highly deppends on your paint colour, usually black and silver get ruined faster than other paints, the more darker your paint colour the faster it gets ruined!

Yes, relentless sun exposure can fade and oxidize car paint. Waxing the car can help preserve the paint.

Too much hot sun does cause UV damage to paint jobs. Keep it waxed twice a year with a good quality paste wax.Source(s): Mitsubishi Master Tech

Yes definitely it will as the body expands the paint also does so and then contracts leading to fine cracks as paint does not have much flex in it
