What is Mailer's best book: The Naked and the Dead or The Executioner's Song?

Update:

And how about Gore Vidal's: Creation or Lincoln? or something else?

Very tough to decide. Mailer's career was largely based on "The Naked and the Dead", though, in my opinion at least, "Executioner" is better written.

As for Vidal, I loved all of his 19th-century American novels (Burr, 1876, Lincoln), but admit to loving

    "Creation".

  • Executioner's Song by a mile. Truly one of the greatest books written. The Naked and the Dead wasn't half bad either ;) But I don't think it is nearly the caliber of ES.
