What is the ideal range on French horn?

I'm a 14 year old player, about 2 1/2 years experience, what should I strive for? What should be my ultimate goal in range? And no, I don't mean the 3.5 octave range Wikipedia mentions, what is truly the optimal range?

The 'truly the optimal range' generally required of a professional, and most likely to be played is from F#/G below 'bottom' C in the bass clef [2nd space], to F above the treble clef. Haydn's Symphony Nr. 51 is an example of the latter; the highest note he ever wrote for the horn.**

**Look at the slow movement: the 1st horn climbs to high F, but that's for horn in Eb. You are (presumably) playing horn in F, so play it a tone lower.
