Why don’t they have more NHL teams in Canada?
I just don’t understand how they can afford to keep the ice so cold down south

NHL Teams are in places with over a million people. Every Canadian city that size has an NHL team. Winnipeg has a team and is 700,000. Quebec City is about that size, and also couldn't support a team in the past.
Then quickly, the next largest cities quickly fall way below 500,000 people.

Every big city in Canada has a team. I guess little towns in the tundra don't have enough people to support a team.

You don't understand how they can afford it? When they sell crap indonesian sweatshop made "authentic" jerseys for $200+? And screen printed t shirts for up to $40 each? When each piece of game worn equipment earns them at least $100????????

Canadian towns are FULL of ice hockey teams, and "down south", there is something called "refrigeration". Look in to that, mate.
