Are Japanese people doing the right thing by keeping the number of Christians and Muslims in Japan as low as possible?

Japanese people are doing their best to preserve their native culture, I think.

The Japanese simply protect their culture, because they know that once you have Islam in your country they always try to change that country to Islamic values, and these people do not hesitate to use violence in the process. It's already sort of going on in Europe and the United States. Japan is smart in this regard. Only a few Muslims each year are allowed to get a (permanent) visa and/or become official Japanese citizens. Europe is less smart, the birth ratio among native Europeans is much lower than in Muslim families, so in the long run the original people will be replaced. Christianity disappears, Jews will flew again, and Europe will contain nearly 1/4 Muslims by the year 2050.

Japan does have a reasonable size Christian (Roman Catholic) population with their largest Catholic Cathedral in Nagasaki (despite being destroyed by the A-Bomb in August 1945).

There has never been many Muslims in Japan.

No. Japan needs more workers. They aren't preserving their culture, because the greatest threat to their culture is the shortage of workers. At the present rate of population shrinkage, they are going to reach the point where their entire working age population will be needed to care for their elderly, so there will be no workers left to do the jobs needed to preserve their culture. Ironically, their best shot at preventing that fate is to bring in more foreigners to care for the elderly, so that some of their citizens can work on preserving the culture.

To be fair, Japanese people are doing a real good job at keeping the number of Japanese people, generally, as low as possible.

They're undergoing the biggest birth crisis in the nation's history.
