Does society’s acknowledgment of the social advantages that men receive contribute to their sense of entitlement?
If society tells you that your gender causes you to have an easier life than others, does it contribute to your expectations?
If your achievements are going to tainted with an asterisk, you might as well maximize your social advantages.

Almost certainly. But not just in relation to gender ...
The highest rate of suicide is for white middle-aged males. Does the expectation and sense of entitlement lead to greater pressure and depression if those expectations aren't being met? Is this part of the reason men are 3.5x more likely to die from suicide than women?
