How would you teach a kid to play chess?

    The way I would teach a kid, or an adult to play chess, is that I would get out a board and the pieces, and tell them about each one and what it can or can't do, then, once they seemed to grasp that, I would have them watch me play a game,and afterwards I would be willing to answer any questions that they had.

    all you would do is teach him how the chess pieces are allowed to move on the board then let him think for him self.

    I would get a board and explain how all the pieces moved. Then I might some explain some main ideas. I would then play him in a game and see how he plays and comment on it.

    I think it is more important to learn by playing at first.

    id play with him..let him use the computer if he needed adiitional help on how the pieces moved
