I went from Bangkok to Aranprathet/Poipet to Phnom Penh ( got Vietnamese visa for $50 ) then 6 hours to Ho Chi Minh. Way back overnight bus Hanoi to Dong Ha , then bus to Lao Bao ( 3 hours ) , walk across border to Laos ( $30 visa ) , then bus to Savannakhet ( 6 hours ) , just in time for last bus across to Mukdahan at 7.30 p.m. Morning in Dong Ha - night in Mukdaharn.

No, Cambodia to the east, Laos to the north, Myanmar to the west and Malaysia to the south of Thailand.
