I am 16 1/2, I live in southern California and want to get a job in the summer is there any way to go about that?

If you've got some contacts that helps. Most of the jobs teens used to do are now filled by adults in SoCal. So it's an uphill battle for kids trying to find summer jobs. Most places would rather have a permanent staffer than to have to train someone just for three months.

You apply for them.
Are you sure you can function at a job?

Rather late to find a summer job.
You go online and search for jobs and start applying. You look for We are Hiring signs. Out local McDonald and Culver’s have had signs out.
You ask at retail stores if you can fill out an application.

You'd have to "apply". Find out who's hiring and talk to the manager.
