Mazda, Honda, Toyota and Subaru are the best built cars in the world. All have excellent reputations for reliability and quality of build. Buying any one of these cars as long as they have been well looked after if buying as a used vehicle. As new cars the Mazda should be a safe bet for being a good reliable car, but if buying a used one you should get a mechanical inspection in case it has been in a crash or has been looked after badly as you should with any used car. Be careful buying a rotary Mazda. They have amazing performance but use oil as they need a lot of lubrication inside the firing chamber which is lost out the exhaust. They are also very thirsty on fuel. If they have not been run correctly they also wear out quite quickly. They need to be warmed up carefully or they wear out one side of the motor quicker than the other side.
Rotary engines were only put in their sports models. Normal Mazdas run standard engines with normal pistons so unless you are buying Mazda with a rotary engine it should be a good car.

Depends on the Mazda and what years. They are exceptional to drive- That's for sure. I don't go by too many reviews on a new car. Too many cars start out as getting good ratings but fall apart a few years down the line. Non rotary Mazdas tend to have stout engines, but they tend to have hit or miss reliability with their automatic transmissions. Newer ones are much better, but Mazda is a niche car. Drive one and you'll fall in love with they way they feel. I've owned two Mazdas (a Protégé and an MPV) and they were good vehicles.

Not quite as good as Honda but better than some American car brands.

The short answer is Yes, Mazda are entirely dependable. ... CNN named Mazda the fourth most solid vehicle brand you could purchase in 2015, and ReliabilityIndex place Mazda sixth for constancy, with a dependability list of only 64. Mazda come in above Lexus and Nissan.

Generally speaking yes. All Mazdas are built in Japan which is not something you can say for Tojos and Honkers
Avoid the RX rotary weapon unless you are a real enthusiast. Anything more mainstream is gonna be OK. Mazdas are characterful and engaging to drive though some features like Skyactiv are a PITA, that's just how it is sometimes.
