Why exactly should I feel sorry for people who die driving their car into flooded roadways?

It’s their own stupidity at work. A general rule is if you can’t see the lines it’s too deep.

Because it's called "compassion". We should all have some.

I , in my little fiat had to take a kid home north of Riverside ; and the highway was flooded ; but I had to get him home . And we made it fine . I don't know if I was stupid or that I had faith in expecting God to save us .

Well, unfortunately stupidity causes a lot of deaths. That doesn't mean you can't feel remorse at the loss of a human life.
